Presence of an Absence was a group exhibition at Brierfield Library, 28th February - 30th March 2015, and included a live art event at Brierfield (Northlight) Mill. Produced by Georgianna C Ainsworth, who was then an MA student at UCLAN, the event at the mill featured Red Shoes, the large-scale, travelling installation work by Mexican artist Elina Chauvet, that brought audience attention to prevalent, international crimes of violence against women. Each pair of shoes in the installation represents a woman murdered, or disappeared, in Mexico. Artists also included in the group exhibition were Brian Maguire, Mark McLoghlin and Rocio Sifuentes.
