In-Residence: Jeni McConnell
Jeni McConnell
2013
Brierfield
Jeni McConnell was artist in residence in 2013. Working alongside Kerry Morrison, she explored Briefield as a wandering artist. The two discovered that the Library were getting rid of surplus books that would be pulped. They worked with these books in an artist-intervention outside the Library, questioning what it means to make books and for them to exist. What happens to them when they are no longer needed. This residency was significant in sowing the seeds of projects that would go on to be developed by In-Situ in years to come, most notably the Save Our Signal Box campaign that lead to the development of Brierfield Station.
