Courage of Conviction

Bob Heath
Dan Russell & Jennifer Reid
Kelly Loughlin

2014

Exploring peace and Pendle’s historic connection to conscientious objection, three artists were commissioned (Bob Heath, Dan Russell & Jennifer Reid and Kelly Loughlin). With one artist based at Nelson library, one at Burnley library, and one at Accrington Library, each artist worked with a group of young people to develop and deliver a WW1 Memorial project. Project activity included banner-making workshops, writing protest songs and reenacting the trial of a conscientious objector.
