Shapes of Water Sounds of Hope

Suzanne Lacy

Super Slow Way Building Bridges Pendle

2016

Shapes of Water Sounds of Hope was a 2-year programme of collaborative art work and public discussion led by artist Suzanne Lacy. This programme resulted in a large number of people (1000) involved in a series of community conversations, singing and chanting performances and the recording of generations of people’s connections to Brierfield (Northlight) Mill. The final performance, a choreographed exploration of the vocal traditions of Shape Note and Sufi Chanting, was documented and now exists as a film, titled The Circle and the Square.
