Connecting Brierfield
Artist residency with Robert Parkinson and Sam Rushton to re-activate the disused platform at Brierfield Station, making it a destination for local residents and connecting the station to other transport routes in and out of Brierfield. During their residency, Robert and Sam explored the histories and geographies of Brierfield, meeting communities connected to and by the railway station, including at the Mosque and Northern Soul Club and Friends of Brierfield Station. This project had been first sparked by Jeni McConnell, who whilst on residence with In-Situ (2012-13) first brought to our attention the demolition notice for Brierfield Signal Box.
This project was funded by - Arts Council England, Connecting East Lancashire, in partnership with Barnfield Construction, Community Rail Lancashire, Network Rail, Northern, Pendle Borough Council and Friends of Pendle Stations.
