TRAINING STATION / Workshops for Residents

A series of artist-led workshops

Join artists in residence Robert Parker and Sam Rushton for a series of creative workshops every Monday in November. These are part of their project at Brierfield Railway Station.

Monday 4 November
Walk on the Wild Side – Photography workshop around Brierfield

Starting the series of workshops intending to record and explore areas around Brierfield’s Railway Station. Robert Parkinson will guide the group with a variety of exercises with the aim for attendees to reconsider the landscape through photography.

We will provide all participants with a disposable camera, but we encourage everybody to bring their own, especially phone cameras. The walks will cover a variety of terrain and we advise you attend with sturdy footwear and a raincoat. This is Brierfield after all!

Monday 11 November
Brierfeels – Creative walking workshop

Join Sam Rushton on a walking trip and discussion around Brierfield. Along the way you will fill in a section of the Training Station workbook around Brierfield, with creative ways of looking again at the location and surrounding environment.

This workshop will involve walking on mostly urban roads, although attendees are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing for Lancashire in November. All materials provided.

Monday 18 November
Prints from the Ground – Making Anthotype prints

Join Robert Parkinson on a print making workshop using 100% natural material. The process involves blending plants and fruits into a pulp and you will learn how to use this to produce your own photographs. Developing the images can take up to 4 weeks and we will contact you when they are ready. All equipment is provided and the workshop will take place at The Garage.

Monday 25 November
Clay Motion – Sculpture workshop

An open invitation for 10 participants to join artists’ Sam Rushton and Rob Parkinson on a sculpture workshop using clay.

Workshops are running every Monday from 1 – 2.30pm
Meet at The Garage, Glen Way, Northlight, Brierfield
